At Saginaw home, Biden to rally ‘grassroots army’ for re-election bid - MLive.com

SAGINAW, MI — President Joe Biden will spend Thursday, March 14, at a Saginaw home with supporters and volunteers backing his push to best Republican candidate Donald Trump in November’s election, a Biden campaign statement read.

Biden’s visit — coming two days after he clinched the Democratic nomination — is aimed at mobilizing volunteers who in the coming months would rally more supporters for his pursuit of a second term, the statement read.

“Over the course of the month, the president, Vice President (Kamala Harris), First Lady (Jill Biden), and Second Gentleman (Douglas Emhoff) will hit the ground, blitzing every battleground state, building up the organizing infrastructure and engaging the grassroots army that will deliver us to victory in November,” the statement read.

Officials did not provide details about the location of the Saginaw home Biden plans to visit.

Biden will highlight “the stark contrast between his agenda of lowering costs for Michiganders and Donald Trump’s attacks on working families in the state, including his comments this week promising to cut Medicare and Social Security,” the campaign statement read.

U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Flint Township) will join the president and other community leaders in Saginaw, the statement read.

A White House statement said Biden will arrive in mid-Michigan at 1:10 p.m. Thursday at MBS International Airport, then depart for Washington, D.C. at 5 p.m. The Freeland site has served as the go-to host of Air Force One during its treks to mid-Michigan over the decades.

The president’s visit to Saginaw will come after he spent Wednesday, March 13, in Milwaukee. There, he announced a $3.3 billion infrastructure project for disadvantaged communities.

Biden plans to depart Wisconsin for Saginaw at 11:20 a.m. Thursday via Milwaukee International Airport Air National Guard Base.

The president last touched down at MBS International Airport in November 2022, when he touted his policies supporting manufacturing jobs during a rally at SK Siltron CSS in Bay County’s Monitor Township.

He last visited Saginaw when he was vice president in February 2010.
