A Las Cruces police officer has died in the line of duty.According to investigators, around 5 p.m., Officer Jonah Hernandez responded to the 300 block of South Valley Drive for a trespassing call.Once there, Las Cruces police say he was stabbed at least one time.Hernandez was taken to Mountain View Regional Medical Center, where he died.According to LCPD, investigators believe Officer Hernandez was stabbed by a person who allegedly trespassed onto the property. The investigation is in its early stages, but officers believe the 29-year-old suspect was shot and killed by someone who witnessed part of the incident.That witness then used Hernandez's radio to call for help.Hernandez leaves behind a wife and his two children, a 10-year-old son and a 2-year-old son.
